The College Mall’s developing wing, dubbed “the Boulevard,” brings with it several new businesses and a new way of doing business.
Prior to the unveiling of the Boulevard and connected developments, Simon's College Mall is perhaps best represented by the International Council of Shopping Centers’ “regional mall” categorization, with its former anchor bookends and more than 80 tenants. As 365 by Whole Foods prepares to bring a grocery to the mix, College Mall marketing director David Dawson said the revamped mall might be best identified as a “lifestyle center.”
“Bloomington has shown it’s a community that is growing and evolving,” Dawson said during a hardhat tour of the construction. “So, we’re evolving to what the community needs.”
The Boulevard is part of the mall’s development of more than 75,000 square feet of retail space that will bring about a dozen tenants to the space. Several have already been identified, including: 365 by Whole Foods, Orange Theory Fitness, Ulta Beauty and Visionworks. Sleep Number, T-Mobile, Anytime Fitness and Men’s Wearhouse recently signed leases, leaving four unnamed tenants negotiating for a spot in the four remaining storefronts.
